Police: Port Jefferson Station Woman in Critical Condition After Crash

Driver is at Stony Brook University Hospital with critical injuries; the passenger and driver in the other car are there as well with non-life-threatening-injuries.

A Port Jefferson Station woman was critically injured Friday morning in a car crash on the Long Island Expressway.

According to police, Bahar Kaya's 2011 Chevrolet Cruze was hit from behind by a 2002 Dodge Durango driven by Monica Saparito westbound on the LIE at exit 57 near Hauppauge at 9 a.m. 

Police said Kaya, 25, was brought to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition, and her sister Nese, 22, who was a passenger in the Cruze, was also brought to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Saparito, 19, of Mastic Beach, was brought to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

There was a secondary crash involving three cars that resulted in no injuries. 

All five vehicles involved in Friday's accident were impounded for safety checks.
