Port Jeff Man Dies in Early Morning Car Crash

Michael Peggs, 23, of Port Jefferson was killed when his car overturned in Port Jefferson early on Saturday morning, according to police. At 1:26 a.m. the 2001 Subaru Peggs was driving hit a wooden retaining wall on Caroline Avenue near Oakes Street causing his car to flip over.

Peggs, who lives on Oakes Street, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's office.

Police say that a 23-year-old woman who was driving with Peggs at the time was taken to by the for minor injuries.

Detectives are still investigating the crash and said that no other information is available at this time. Patch will follow up on this story as more information becomes available.
