Saturday Storm Causes Flood, Closing Downtown Intersection in Port Jeff
Rain storm caused flooding that closed roads in Port Jefferson village on Saturday night.
Wet weather closed off roads in Port Jefferson during the massive rainstorm on Saturday night. Roads in the village were flooded and police had closed off the junction of Route 25A, Main Street and East Broadway for a period of time. An eyewitness also reported that Maple Avenue by the Port Jefferson firehouse was also flooded.
An officer at the Port Jefferson Constable’s office confirmed that there wasn’t any damage to the road from the flooding and the water cleared up after the rain stopped Sunday morning.
“It usually goes down pretty quickly,” said the officer.
