Soup Kitchen Scammers Possibly Targeting Port Jefferson Residents

Local soup kitchen, WelcomeINN, says callers requesting donations is not part of their organization.

A resident from Port Jefferson reported to Marge Tumilowicz, President of the Welcome INN that on Saturday morning an anonymous caller solicited her for donations to "the soup kitchen" and then asked for an address to come pick it up.

Tumilowicz insisted that this caller was not a representative of the well-known local soup kitchen Welcome INN that runs soup kitchens at churches in locations around the village.

In an email sent out to local residents and business owners to alert people to what Tumilowicz called a “dangerous scam” she said that her organization would not solicit funds in that way.
