Port Jefferson village code enforcement officers are encouraging people to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. Calling the conditions downtown "a mess" with multiple problems experienced throughout the village.
"All over, all over," said one code officer when asked where trouble spots are.
In a message to residents sent out yesterday on Patch, village officials implored people to stay home:
You are strongly advised to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary! This will allow the Village plows and emergency vehicles the ability to clear the streets properly and ensure the safety of the General Public. The Village Code Enforcement Bureau will be out patrolling the Village and enforcing Public Safety. Should you need Code assistance please call them at 774-0066.
