‘Flash Freeze’ Prompts Town to Send Out Road Sanders

Sanders and salters have been dispatched to area roads to deal with Friday's icy driving conditions.

Friday’s icy road conditions have prompted the Town of Brookhaven to dispatch road sanders and salters to address to area roadways.

Highway Superintendent Dan Losquadro said that due to a “flash freeze” that began about 10:30 a.m., residents should drive with extreme caution or stay off the roads until conditions improve.

The Suffolk County police have reported an increase in car accidents for Friday afternoon and are also advising residents to be careful or not drive at all.
