Legislator Hahn To Participate In Environment Committee

Legislative committees are set to begin meeting on February 3.

Suffolk County Legislator Kara Hahn (D-Setauket) has been selected to serve as Chairwoman of the Legislature’s Environment, Planning and Agricultural committee this year.

The EPA committee is extremely important because it will research and oversee land acquisition programs, water quality improvements initiatives, farmland protection efforts, smart growth planning and numerous other projects in the county.

“I am grateful for the opportunity and confidence that the Presiding Officer and my colleagues have given me to continue serving as Chair of the Environment, Planning and Agricultural Committee,” said Legislator Hahn said in a statement.

“In spite of declining revenue for environmental protection, over the course of the last two years, my fellow legislators and I have set a course that is allowing us to be stronger protectors of our drinking water and our bays and waterways.  Our work continues, but the groundwork has been laid.”
