Limited Service From Port Jefferson LIRR Station

The LIRR has announced that they will operate a shuttle from Port Jefferson to Huntington.

The LIRR is reporting that they will run a Port Jefferson to Huntington shuttle train scheduled to leave at 12:45 p.m. The shuttle train will leave approximately every two hours from Port Jefferson.

Earlier today, Salvatore Arena, a Metropolitan Transportation Agency spokesperson, reported to Patch.com that it was unknown when full service will be restored to the Port Jefferson branch.

"There is no specific time table for Port Jefferson to be opened," he said.

In the meantime the LIRR has been concentrating its efforts on the major branches based on ridership. This morning the Huntington, Ronkonkoma, Port Washington and Babylon branches were operating on limited schedules to reach major portions of the Island.

High wind, snow drifts and abandoned vehicles posed major obstacles to restoring full service across all branches.

"You never know what's going to happen next," Arena said.
