Losquadro To Outline Brookhaven Highway Dept. Improvements

Highway superintendent will be in Holtsville Monday to discuss his plans to enhance efficiencies.

Some two months after winning a special election for Brookhaven Highway Superintendent, Dan Losquadro will unveil a plan he said will improve efficiency in the much-criticized department.

At a press conference scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at the corner of Canine Road and Buckley Road in Holtsville, Losquadro is set to announce the replacement of an outlived, previously demolished maintenance garage, according to a press advisory.

The press conference is also being held to update the public on what steps are being taken to achieve Losquadro’s goals of improving the highway department, the press advisory said.

Losquadro defeated Brookhaven Town Councilwoman Kathy Walsh in March in a special election to fill the vacant highway superintendent position. The previous superintendent, John Rouse, stepped down after winning a judgeship in this past November’s election.

Losquadro took over the department following weeks of criticism about Brookhaven’s handling of snow removal after February’s blizzard. More than 30-inches of snow fell in sections of the township and streets in some areas went more than a week before being plowed.
