Mayor: All Roads in Port Jefferson Are Passable

With major roads clear, village now concentrating on cleaning up school bus routes.

All roads in the Village are passable. Major roads are clear. We are working with the school district to clean up school bus routes to ensure school opening for Wednesday. We see no obstacles for school to resume on Wednesday at this time.

All LIPA outages have been restored to our knowledge. If anyone is still without power, please report to both LIPA (800) 490-0075 and also call in your street to our DPW so we can ensure there are no access issues. We have been working hand in hand with the LIPA crews to coordinate these efforts since Saturday and have received state resources from Senator LaValle's office to help with snow removal.

We continue to "widen" roads and side streets and will be sanding in preparation for snow now again called for on Wednesday night. We are also still working on sidewalk clearing as there is a tremendous amount of snow piled up on the Main street sidewalks. Please continue to keep your sidewalks clear with sand and salt. All in all, the Village is in good shape and we thank the crew at the Dept of Public Works for another huge job, well done.

Please be advised once the snow surpasses two inches, the Village reverts to a State of Emergency and no parking on the streets clearly marked as snow emergency streets will be strictly enforced.

Side note: A huge thank you to Carl's Deli and Billie's 1890 for feeding our Dept of Public Works. We are truly grateful for your assistance and generosity in helping keep our road crew fed, warm and fueled up.
