Mt. Sinai Mosque Discussion, Planning Board Meeting Postponed

Meeting will be held on Monday, Feb. 25.

After a site plan proposal to place a mosque in a Mt. Sinai neighborhood sparked a contentious discussion at Town Planning Board meeting last month, and a conversation put on pause for a Feb. 11 meeting, locals hoping to give their two cents on the proposal will have to wait a little longer, as Monday's Planning Board has been postponed.

Monday's meeting, scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., will take place Feb. 25.

The postponment comes as town highway crews attempt to clear streets from over two feet of snow that fell over the weekend. Monday commutes were still impossible for many in town, prompting civic groups along the north shore to a cancel one meeting, while another wrote to the Town Board wondering why inadequate service has lasted into the work week.
