Pension Costs Continue to Rise For Village

About 40 village workers in the employee retirement system.

The village of Port Jefferson will have to tackle increasing pension costs this year, according to a report in The Port Times Record. According to the article, the village paid $200,000 in pension contributions in 2010, $319,000 in 2011 and $582,000 for 2012.

"Pension costs continue to go up and we have to continue to pay them," Treasurer Don Pearce was quoted as saying in the story.
