Sheriff: Drunk Woman Topped 90 MPH on LIE

Suffolk County Sheriff's office arrests Mount Sinai resident Kristina Lorentzen and charges her with DWI, speeding.

A Mount Sinai woman has been arrested and charged with driving drunk at more than 90 mph along the Commack stretch of the Long Island Expressway early Friday morning.

Kristina Lorentzen, 21, was arrested Aug. 24 and charged with driving while intoxicated and speeding.

According to Suffolk County Sheriff's Department, Lorentzen was  driving a 2008 Honda Pilot eastbound on the Long Island Expressway allegedly at more than 90 mph 3:55 a.m. Friday. Deputy Sheriff Greg Turzer said he pulled Lorentzen over for a traffic stop, "he observed the female driver was slurring her words and had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from her mouth." Upon exiting the car, the deputy sheriff said Lorentzen staggered, had glassy and bloodshot eyes and "performed poorly" on a standardized field office.

Lorentzen submited to a breathing test that resulted in a 0.13 blood alcohol content, according to the sheriff's department.

She was arranged in Central Islip district court on Friday morning.
