Stamp Prices to Increase Next Week

U.S. Postal Service rates are set to change on Jan. 27.

Mailing a letter will cost you a penny more starting next week as the U.S. Postal Service rate changes go into effect.

Stamp prices will increase one cent, from 45 cents to 46 cents, to mail one-ounce letters, effective Jan. 27. The cost for letters weighing more than one ounce will remain the same - 20 cents for each additional ounce.

Postcard stamps will also see a one-cent increase, from 32 cents to 33 cents. Letters under one ounce mailed anywhere internationally will cost $1.10.

Those looking to save a bit could stock up on the Forever stamps (which cost 45 cents until the one-cent increase on Jan. 27). These are usable even after stamp prices increase.

You can pick up your Forever stamps at:

  • Port Jefferson Station Post Office
  • Port Jefferson Village Post Office

10 cent tax on all online bill payments would fix it so the right to mail delivery in the constituition continues. you cant keep the doors open for one person to walk in to buy one stamp and expect the window to be fully staffed waiting for you. unless you charge $5.00 for the stamp. hmmm thats an idea. then when the price of the stamp goes way up the bank could start charging you a buck to do it online. but first, they have to get a generation used to it..
