Nearly 3,000 homes and businesses in the Wantagh-Seaford area remain without power 11 days after Superstorm Sandy struck the Long Island region.
As of 9:06 a.m. Friday, the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) online outage map showed 2,738 outages in Wantagh and Seaford. This includes 1,900 in Wantagh, 457 in Seaford and 381 in North Wantagh. The numbers are down from more than 10,000 local outages reported in the days following Sandy last week.
LIPA announced on its Facebook page Friday morning that survey teams would be in Wantagh and Seaford later in the day along with other South Shore communities. The LIPA Facebook message said for the latest information, call the utility’s Hurricane Sandy Survey information line at 1-855-588-8638.
