Town Councilman Won't Run for Re-Election

Steve Fiore-Rosenfeld tells media he will focus on his law career.

Town councilman Steve Fiore-Rosenfeld will not seek another term on the Brookhaven town board, according to reports published in The Village Times Herald and Newsday.

"For some time now, I have been seriously contemplating on focusing full-time on the practice of law," Fiore-Rosenfeld wrote in an email to The Village Times Herald.

Fiore-Rosenfeld's town computers were recently seized by the Suffolk District Attorney as part of a probe into the use of town equipment and staffing resources to circulate nominating petitions for a re-election bid. However, his attorney, Edward Yule, said that had nothing to do with Fiore-Rosenfeld's decision to not run again.

"Steve considered this long before the computers were subpoenaed and there's no connection at all," Yule told Newsday. "He's had offers for months for other financial opportunities."
