Historic Port Jefferson Village Home For Sale

One if the best things about house hunting in the village of Port Jefferson is the number of times you run across an historic home for sale. It doesn't get much closer to history than this house listed by local Real Estate agency Jolie Powell at 116 Prospect Street.

The home is directly across the street from the Mather House, an historic home in its own right and the headquarters for the Greater Port Jefferson Historical Society.

According to a plaque on the house, 116 Prospect Street was originally the home of John "Billy" Brown, a stagecoach driver and was build circa 1840.

It is also on the map of the historical home walking tour published by the historical society.

The house is listed for $479,000 and is described in one listing as "Steamboat Gothic." It has two full bathrooms and four bedrooms. Taxes are estimated to be a little less than $4,600 with additional village taxes at around $460.

If you love history and Port Jefferson them this is a home to check out.
