Clinton Avenue Playground Wishes Fulfilled

When the Comsewogue elementary schools underwent a re-organization this school year, it was quickly discovered at Clinton Avenue Elementary that there wasn't enough age-appropriate playground equipment to meet the students' needs after becoming a K-2 school only.

Principal Toni Bifalco learned about a grant program that local organizations could apply for from Walmart. Recently, the East Setauket Walmart store was able to fulfill the school's need for a new piece of playground equipment by providing a $5,500 grant.

Anthony Lupo, Walmart store manager, said the goal of the grant program is to "give back locally, impacting the communities where we live and work."

Bifalco said the new section of the playground is the first addition in approximately eight years. With the school also home to a pre-kindergarten program that will house both three- and four-year old children next year, she said the school is grateful for the grant.

"For the age group, it's exactly what we needed," Bifalco said. "It's really incredible."
