Competition in Port Jefferson, Comsewogue School Board Races

Four candidates are seeking two seats in Comsewogue, while four more are running for three open seats in Port Jefferson.

School Board races in Comsewogue and Port Jefferson School Districts will be competitive ones this year, as four candidates are vying for three seats in Port Jefferson, and another four are running for two open seats in Comsewogue School District.

In Port Jefferson, two of the three seats are for a full three-year term, while one of the seats will serve the remainder of the term – through June 30, 2014 – that belonged to Isak Prohovnik, who died last fall.

Ellen Boehm has served in Prohovnik's shoes since last fall, and is one of four seeking the three at-large seats. In addition Boehm are incumbents Kathleen Brennan, board president, as well as Dennis Kahn, whose full terms would run through June 30, 2016. Adam DeWitt rounds out the four individuals seeking a seat on the board.

In Comsewogue, the seats of Trustees Robert DeStefano and Fran Alabau-Blatter are both expiring, and both are seeking re-election. Chris McCrary and John Rossini have both filed petitions to earn a spot on the board.
