Comsewogue and Port Jeff Athletes Compete at 5th Annual Steeplefest

Port Jefferson track hosts this unique annual competition.

Port Jefferson’s Steeplefest, now in its fifth year, brought together over 450 athletes from all over Long Island, including runners from and , according to a story in the Port Times Record.

The individual meets include a 2000- and 3000-meter race with barriers and a water obstacle in freshman, novice and open categories, the paper reported.

"Steeplefest is one of a kind," the paper reported Port Jefferson girls head coach Brian Snow as saying.

What makes it unique is that there are few opportunities to run the race at all during the season much less an invitational of this type dedicated to the event, according to Snow.

“The competition is just one of several that are hosted by the Port Jefferson track program,” he told the paper.
