Comsewogue School Board Race: Candidate John Rossini

Rossini is one of the four candidates for school board.

John Rossini, a 15-year resident of the Comsewogue School District, is one of the four candidates running for a school board seat this year.

Rossini works for the staffing company Allegis Group Services as the director of operations, responsible for the technology and corporate recruiting at CA Technologies (formerly Computer Associates). He oversees a team of 16 people.

"One of the things I bring to the table is the knowledge of the corporate world. I have knowledge of how to keep to a budget," said Rossini, who has two daughters, one of whom is a Comsewogue graduate.

He said he would support the school district's current proposed budget, saying that "it gives us everything right now that we need without any cuts."

He also said that besides the obvious fiscal challenges the district faces each year, another challenge the school district is facing is getting more of the community involved in the future of the school district. For instance, he said, he doesn't see many people attending school board meetings.

"If I were elected that’s one of the things I would do, to reach out the community and get them more involved, to see that the level of excellence in the school gets raised," Rossini said. "I don’t think there’s any reason why the Comsewogue School District can’t be one of the top school districts in Long Island and the state. ... I think the community needs to work together as a whole to make that happen."
