Comsewogue School District Closed on Tuesday

Second day off for Comsewogue students following blizzard.

Comsewogue School District announced that it will be closed on Tuesday because many local roads still remain unplowed after the blizzard.

Board of Education President John Swenning said that Superintendent Joseph Rella drove around the community and saw that many of the side streets were not cleared.

Swenning said that Rella "has no choice for the safety of our children and staff but to close all schools again..."

"Four of our six schools are cleared, our buildings and grounds crews are doing a great job," Swenning wrote in a post on the Comsewogue Community Facebook page. "He is meeting with several superintendents on Wednesday morning to discuss what to do regarding these missed days. He will give us more information after that meeting."

Swenning said that as of now, the High School performance of the "Sound of Music" will go on as planned on Tuesday evening.
