Contribute to Port Jefferson Patch With Educational Stories

Community news site wants your opinion on schools.

With the Port Jefferson School District budget and board of education elections coming up next month, Port Jefferson Patch wants the community to get involved in its editorial plans.

Port Jefferson Patch is looking for community residents to contribute viewpoint stories in the following areas:

The teacher’s biggest fan: A parent of a student who can’t imagine seeing their child’s teacher fired sounds off. The parent defends the teachers, and all that they do.

Program's Cut: Are some of your children's extra-curricular activities or clubs being cut? Let us know how you feel!

Private Practice: A resident who either doesn’t have kids or sends their kid to private school. Write about paying taxes into a system that you don’t use. Is it fair? Do you mind?

The Graduate: Someone who went through the system writes about the life lessons they learned from extra-curricular programs.

Older Voices: We want older residents to detail the daily economic struggles and how taxes play into it.

Younger voices: Younger residents without kids usually pay less attention to school elections than anyone else. Why is that?

Also, Port Jefferson Patch will be writing news stories on the following topics below and are looking to speak with folks in the community:

Elders in the community: Will the never-ending tax increases to pay for education funding will force them out of their homes. This time the fear is Albany’s cuts will be passed down to the homeowner. Is this you or someone you know in Port Jefferson or Port Jefferson Station?
