Elementary Students Celebrate Earth Day

Nature walks, awareness posters, dirt pudding and more.

Earth Day proved both educational and fun for students at Edna Louise Spear Elementary School in Port Jefferson. Not only did students create persuasive posters encouraging others to be more attuned to their environmental impact, but they also took nature walks on the school's trails, contributed to class ecology books, decorated window clings, tie-dyed t-shirts, and learned about recycling via a virtual smartboard lesson. The celebration also included the making of "dirt pudding" using Oreos, chocolate pudding and whipped cream that turned into a tasty treat resembling dirt.
