Mather Hospital to Hold Ovarian Cancer Symposium

Mather Hospital will present an educational symposium on ovarian cancer on Nov. 17 in conference rooms 3, 4 and 5 at the hospital. Check-in opens at 6:30 p.m.; the program begins at 7 p.m.

Each year approximately 21,550 women in the United States are diagnosed with ovarian cancer, most of them between the ages of 40 and 65. Symptoms of early stage disease are often vague and ill defined and may not be severe or specific enough to prompt a woman to seek medical attention. The majority of cases are advanced (stage III or IV) at the time of diagnosis.
