Field Hockey Goalie From Port Jeff Station Reaches Number 1 in Saves For 2nd Year

Kristen Znaniecki ranks first in the nation in Division II NCAA athletics in saves per game.

Comsewogue graduate and Port Jefferson Station native Kristen Znaniecki has again ranked number one in the nation for saves as a junior field hockey goalkeeper at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry.

Her current average is 9.9 saves per game.

According to a statement released by the college, last year Znaniecki finished the season as the Division II national statistical champion in saves per game.

Znaniecki will get a chance to extend her number one status on Oct. 14 when she and her Mercy Mavericks teammates host Bellarmine at 1 p.m.
