PHOTOS: History Comes Alive For Mt. Sinai Students

Civil War reenactors visited Mount Sinai elementary school.

Civil War reenactors came to Mount Sinai Elementary school to help bring the conflict between the North and South to life for students as they studied the time of Abraham Lincoln, the fight for state's rights and abolishment of slavery.

Dressed in authentic garb and manning a telegraph field station circa 1861, the men sought to bring the history lessons off the pages and into real life. All the equipment they brought were antiques from the time period.

"We try to keep it as authentic as we can," said Brian Niessing, who was there from Company K of the 67th New York Historical Association.
