Letter: Seeking Replacement for Outgoing Assistant Superintendent of Business

Dear Parents and Community Members,

At the July 26 meeting of the Levittown School District Board of Education, Mr. Mark Flower was appointed to the position of Assistant Superintendent for Business. Mark’s last day in our district will be August 26. His resignation will be formally accepted by the Board at the August 9 public meeting. Mark is committed to completing several assignments that will enable us to have an effective transition to a new school business official and a smooth opening in September.

On behalf of the Port Jefferson School District and community, I would like to thank Mr. Flower for his dedicated service to our students and staff. Mark successfully navigated our district through a very challenging budget cycle which resulted in the preservation of many district programs. His work with the Budget Advisory Committee (as well as other District and Board Committees) was greatly appreciated.

I am sure you join me in wishing Mr. Flower success in his new position. Rest assured that we will conduct a process to identify an outstanding candidate to fill this vacancy. The position has already been posted to OLAS (our on-line application system) as of Wednesday, July 27. This enables us to pursue experienced individuals from varied backgrounds throughout the Tri-State area. I will certainly keep you informed as our process moves forward.
