Middle School Science Olympiad to Compete at State Level

Port Jefferson team takes fourth place in regional competition.

The Port Jefferson Middle School Science Olympiad Team emerged the fourth-place winner at the Regional Division B competition, sending the team to the state competition set for April 12 and 13 in Syracuse.

Led by teacher Adam Bouchard, the squad faced off against 35 teams from 22 school districts and competed in events spanning the disciplines of earth science, biology, chemistry, physics and engineering.

3rd Place – Xinyi Hong and Arunima Roy for Endangered, Exotic, Extinct
3rd Place – Aidan Schretzmayer and Chandler Sciara for Helicopter
3rd Place – Neal Masone and David Moir for Dynamic Planet and Mousetrap Vehicle
3rd Place – Eli Doyle and Connor Kaminska for Reach for the Stars
3rd Place – Anna Desan and Isabella Koutsantanou for Rocks and Minerals
3rd Place – Justin Julich and Andrew Lioio for Water Quality
4th Place – Thomas Hull, Michael Kennedy and J.R. Knapp for Experimental Design
