Mount Sinai Eight Grader Heads To Spelling Bee Championships

Matthew Sirico will be representing the district at the Scripps/Hofstra University Regional Spelling Bee in February.

If you are having trouble spelling you might want to ask eighth grader, Matthew Sirico for help. He was the recent winner of the Mount Sinai Middle School spelling bee competition.

In an email, Principal Peter Pramataris said Sirico was one of the 34 class winners from grades five to eight. Pramataris said in December, Sirico beat out Samin Zaman and Justin Balroop for the win.

"The championship word was 'wherewithal,' said Pramataris. Now, Sirico "will be representing our school at the Scripps/Hofstra University Regional Spelling Bee on Feb 9."
