Patch Whiz Kid of the Week: Avalon Randi
Our selection for Whiz Kids of this week is Avalon Randi for having her artwork selected to be shown in the Youth Art Showcase at Mills Pond House.
Accomplishment: Art student, Avalon Randi (sophomore) has her artwork titled "Quiet Before the Storm" exhibited at the Youth Art Showcase at Mills Pond House in St. James. Her work will be on display until March 11. Avalon's art is featured along with the work of 18 other Suffolk County school districts.

Key to Awesomeness: According to Avalon's art teacher, Carrie Morgan, the painting was done in her Drawing and Painting class during the unit on Abstraction. She chose "calm before the storm" as her theme for the painting.
Avalon's work came out of very persistently pursuing the right combination of elements.

"She changed ideas for colors and compositions until this one evolved and emerged," said Morgan. "It was exciting to watch her painting come to life."
