Port Jeff Middle School Students Move Up

Ceremony welcomed the Class of 2016 to high school.

Walking through a bouquet of Royal purple and white balloons, eighth-grade students at took the stage for their moving-up ceremony graduating to their high school careers.

After the seventh and eighth-grade band performed the national anthem and "A Salute to Freedom," class president Liane Russell shared the Class of 2016 reflections, which, according to a statement released by the school, "highlighted periods of growth, defined by the highs and lows of maturing."

"She noted that these shared experiences have made them stronger as individuals and as a class and have ultimately prepared them for the next step, which will bring its own set of new challenges," the statement said.

Students received academic and achievement awards, while community organizations including the American Legion and Rotary Club selected scholarship recipients based on the student’s service and outreach.
