PHOTOS: Students Perform in Long Island String Festival

Eleven Port Jefferson students performed in the recent concerts.

Eleven student-musicians from Port Jefferson schools participated recently in the Long Island String Festival, a competitive concert where students are selected based on New York State School Music Association test results as well as teacher recommendations.

The elementary and middle school performance was held on Jan. 21 at Northport High School, with the junior/senior high school performance at Ward Melville High School on Feb. 5.

The following students were invited to play: fifth-graders Emily Bossert and Elizabeth Chun; sixth-graders Hyun Jin Lee and Mayu Takeuchi; seventh-graders Ibuki Iwasaki, James Kennedy and Trey Pisano; eighth-grader Anita Rescia; ninth-grader Danielle Goldstein; 10th-grader Dunia Karzai; and 12th-grader Jonathan Chun.
