Port Jeff Board of Ed Seeks Volunteers for Budget Advisory Committee

Deadline to be considered for the committee is Wednesday.

The invitation announced last week on the Port Jefferson School District’s website seeking volunteers to join the board of education’s budget advisory committee will end in two days. Community members have until Wednesday to submit their names for consideration by the finance committee to the district clerk’s office.

Members of the committee chaired by board member Bob Ramus will review the school’s 2012-2013 budget proposals and provide feedback as the district drafts the version it will send to the public for a vote in May.

According to Ramus, the Budget Advisory Committee (BAC) is scheduled to meet on Dec. 19, Jan. 18, Feb. 1 and Feb 29 at 7 p.m. at . These meetings take place in between the regular board meetings so that Ramus, as chairman of the Finance Committee, can bring the BAC’s suggestions to the full board and Superintendent of Schools and then relay the Board’s and Superintendent’s comments back to the BAC multiple times during the process.
