Port Jeff Elemetary School Principal Resigns

Ted Mockrish, the principal of in Port Jefferson submitted his letter of resignation and it was accepted at Tuesday night's school board meeting.

Mockrish gave no reason for his departure nor did he say where he may be headed to next.

New school Superintendent, Kenneth Bossertfor Ted Mickrish's "two years of dedicated service to the children of our community."

"The Elementary Principal position will be filled on an immediate basis," said Bossert. "Our goal is to have a newly appointed principal in place when the students arrive in September."

A job posting has already been distributed and according to Bossert the school has already received a "large number of resumes."

If needed, Bossert received the suthority from the school board to secure an interim principal.

Mr. Mockrish was out of the office according to someone who answered the phone at the school and an automatic email reply. A message was left on his voicemail and we will update this story as more information becomes available.
