Port Jeff High School Students Help Build Homes For Habitat For Humanity

Students took a field trip to Central Islip to help build two houses.

In May, students from the Interact Club took a field trip to Central Islip to help build two houses for Habitat for Humanity.

"Students were instructed on construction site safety and how to transport building materials," the school district said in a statement about the project. "Working together, the club members brought in and secured sheetrock to the frames of both houses, building out their walls, as well as installed insulation for one of the homes."

After they were done, the students wrote notes to the future owners on the beams of the homes.
