Port Jefferson School District Adjusts June Calendar

The last day of school has been changed in the middle school and high school.

A simple scheduling error has led Port Jefferson school district officials to alter the June academic calendar for the middle school and high school.

"When the calendar was made, it was just an oversight," said Maureen Hull, executive director of curriculum and instruction.

The school district announced on its website the following changes:

  • The last full day of school in the high school will be June 6, rather than June 7, in order to allow for two full days for final exams before Regents exams begin;
  • The last full day of school in the middle school will be June 11 to provide three extra instructional days before the final exams start.
At the middle school, "we were pleased to add some more instructional days ... yet allow sufficient days for final exams and take into consideration the number of students in 8th grade who have to take Regents exams as well," Hull said.
