Port Jefferson Students Named Suffolk Zone Award Recipients

Two high school seniors get recognized for their outstanding achievement with a New York State Association award.

At an awards dinner on Dec. 4, high school seniors Olivia Racanelli and Hunter Reiter were named the 2013-2014 Suffolk Zone Award recipients.

The award, given by the Suffolk Zone of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, is presented to one male and one female nominee from each Suffolk County high school. Each recipient must be Scholastically Sound, have Outstanding Character, be a Physical Education Leader in class, participate in other school activities and be a positive Role Model for all other students.

“Olivia and Hunter have proven themselves to our physical education teachers and their school community as being students with exceptional physical performances, scholastic abilities and leadership qualities,” said Debra Ferry, director of health, physical education and athletics on the district website. “Their performance and participation in physical education has earned them this well-deserved recognition.”
