Two-Hour Delay For Comsewogue Schools Tuesday

Students will get to sleep in a little tomorrow after the superintendent announces a two-hour delay.

Superintendent Joseph Rella made an announcement through the Comsewogue School District's text messaging service that there will be a two hour delay on Tuesday. While there will be no Pre-K services, Daycare will remain open.

The Board of Education president John Swenning took to Facebook to confirm the superintendent's announcement. "Due to the weather forecast for
this evening, [the superintendent] would rather not have our students at bus stops in the dark with the freezing cold temperatures and icy roads," said Swenning.

In a phone message home to parents, Rella added to his text message saying he had to set a delay to keep the students safe. "It's supposed to be 10 degrees temperature-wise and some heavy wind. But the wind chill is supposed to be -11. I don't want to have students, especially our high schoolers and middle schoolers who go in early…I don't want them in the dark in all that mess," said Rella. "You will begin your day two hours later than usual. Please be careful walking and driving tomorrow, it's going to be slippery."
