With Tax Cap in Play, Port Jeff Begins Planning Budget

School staff presented information on budget plans at board meeting.

A state law limiting the taxes a district can levy on residents will be in play when planning the next school budget, according to Port Jefferson School District’s Superintendent Ken Bossert.

The Times Beacon Record reported recently on a presentation by administrators to the school board during its last public meeting.

“Superintendent Ken Bossert started off by saying that the district's priorities include adhering to the state's tax levy increase cap, planning an academic program that will be beneficial both to students and taxpayers and preparing the district for the future,” the paper reported.
