Pace Freshman from Port Jefferson Station Named Rookie of the Week

Matthew Cossidente earns conference rookie of the week honors.

Matthew Cossidente, a freshman at Pace University from Port Jefferson Station, has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week after totaling six points in two wins on the road in Colorado this past weekend.

Cossidente totaled four shots, picked up three ground balls and tallied an assist in the teams' first win of the season over the Grizzlies of Adams State University.

He also scored three goals and added two assists as the team gave the Mavericks of Colorado Mesa University their first loss of the season on Sunday. The Setters improved to 2-0 to start the season and will take on Dominican at the Torne Valley Sports Complex in Colorado on March 4 at 3 p.m.

Cossident is a 2012 graduate of Comsewogue High School and was team captain of the lacrosse team there. He was also voted 2nd team all-Long Island in 2012.
