This month marks the 25th anniversary of Library card sign-up month and the Comsewogue Public Library is celebrating in a big way! During the month of September, present your Comsewogue Library card to any one of our librarians to enter a raffle for a chance to win a 4-pack of tickets to the Long Island Aquarium and Exhibition Center. Residents of Port Jefferson Station, Mt. Sinai, and Miller Place are eligible to get a library card. The American Library Association (ALA) launched this national campaign in 1987 to meet the challenge of, then Secretary of Education, William J. Bennett who said: “Let’s have a national campaign…every child should obtain a library card – and use it.” Thousands of public and school libraries across the country have joined this effort, and the Comsewogue Public Library is proud to be a part of it. Since the library plays such a vital role in our community, we believe that it’s important for everyone, young and old alike, to have and use their library card.
