Crash on Dangerous Curve Injures Two in Mount Sinai

At 8:27 p.m. on the evening of Monday May 12, 2014, the Mount Sinai Fire Department was alerted of an overturn motor vehicle accident with reported 2 victims trapped within the vehicle.

The location of the incident was 122 North Country Road. Upon arrival of the 1st Mt Sinai Fire Department Chief, it was confirmed one car on its side up against a tree. Two people were confirmed trapped in the vehicle. Under command of Mount Sinai Chief of Department Dave Taylor, firefighters from the Mount Sinai Fire Department extricated both victims using HURST tools.

According to Chief Taylor, it took firefighters approximately 30 minutes to extricate both drivers successfully from the vehicle.

A neighbor who heard the crash described the sound of the impact.

"It was a noise we had never heard before. There are many accidents on this section of North Country Road," the neighbor said. 

Both victims were transported by Port Jefferson Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Stony Brook University Medical Center. Their conditions at the time of the accident were unknown.
