Terryville Makes Quick Stop in Dangerous Cold

On a dangerously cold night, the Terryville Fire Department was alerted of a reported residential structure fire. The location was 17 Champlain Street. Initial reports into Terryville Fire Communications was fire from the roof of the structure. Terryville Engine 1 was the first due front line apparatus and transmitted the Working Fire shortly after arriving on scene. Fire was visible from the 2nd floor of the residence upon arrival of the first due units. Under the command of Terryville Chief of Department Keith Olsen, mutual was immediately requested from Selden Fire Department for RIT, Port Jefferson Fire Department for 1 ladder to scene & Setauket Fire Department for 1 engine to the scene. Due to the quick response from Terryville Fire Department, Setauket Fire Department was redirected to standby @ Terryville FD Station #2. Additionally Port Jefferson Volunteer Ambulance Corps provided an ambulance standby at Terryville FD Station #2. Terryville Fire Department 2nd Assistant Chief Brendan Pilkington took the positions of operations. The Brookhaven Fire Marshal's Office was requested to respond and is currently investigating the cause of the fire. A quick knockdown by Terryville Firefighters with assistance from neighboring departments prevented more damage to the home. No injuries were reported at the time of the fire.
