Polar Bear Plungers Came Out to the Beach for a Good Cause

Hundreds of people came out to Cedar Beach on Saturday to take part in the Polar Plunge in support of New York Special Olympics.

On Nov. 20 over 300 people came out to take a plunge into the Long Island Sound off of Cedar Beach in Mount Sinaiin support of the Special Olympics New York. Brookhaven Town Supervisor Mark Lesko and Councilwoman Jane Bonner were there to join in. According to event organizers, the first Polar Plunge in Brookhaven raised over $28,000 with the top fundraiser being Town employee Thomas Roach who raised more than $2000.
