The Week Ahead: Boating Safety, Village Board, Art Supplies Fundraiser

A look at what lies ahead in the Port Jefferson community.

As summer begins to kick into high gear, the local Coast Guard flotilla is hosting a boating safety workshop. For details on this and other local events, visit our community calendar.

1. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla of Port Jefferson will hold a three-day evening boating safety workshop in Setauket between Monday and Wednesday. Click here for more details.

2. The Port Jefferson village board will hold a meeting on Monday at 7 p.m. at village hall.

3. Port Jefferson's village elections will take place from 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Village Center. Mayor Margot Garant and trustees Adrienne Kessel Larry LaPointe are running unopposed for re-election.

4. On Tuesday at 6 p.m., a free six-week smoking cessation program will begin at St. Charles Hospital for smokers who need help quitting. Click here for more information.

5. A fundraiser to buy art supplies for Afghan children will be held on Thursday at the Port Jefferson Village Center at 6 p.m., featuring live music by The Phoenix Trio, with a $20 suggested donation at the door.
