The Week Ahead: Prom Preview, Paving Work, Civic Association

A look at what lies ahead in the greater Port Jefferson community this week.

This week, high school wraps up with the Port Jefferson senior prom, a paving project in Traders Cove wraps up, and a summer of fun begins at the local libraries. Check our event calendar for more local events.

1. The paving phase of the Traders Cove parking lot project in Port Jefferson village begins Monday and may run past the estimated end time of 3:30 p.m., according to a note on the village's website. No parking in that area will be permitted during the paving.

2. On Monday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., the public will have the chance to preview the Port Jefferson school district's senior prom theme and decor at the high school before the students arrive.

3. The Port Jefferson Station-Terryville Civic Association will meet on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Comsewogue Public Library.

4. Also on Tuesday, Mather Memorial Hospital will host a free informational session on bariatric surgery at 6:30 p.m.; must call to register. Details here.

5. This week begins a summer full of fun activities for kids and teens to do while school's out at the local libraries. Call the Port Jefferson Free Library at 631-473-0022 or the Comsewogue Public Library at 631-928-1212 for more information.
