The Week Ahead: Regents Exams, Midweek Meditation, Overdose Education & More

A look at what's coming up this week in the greater Port Jefferson community.

As the school year winds down, students start their finals and Regents exams while school officials wrap up the year in business. Also on the table this week: midweek meditation, planning board, and a course in preventing and identifying opioid overdoses.

1. Regents exams start June 11 for students in high school and for some junior high school students as well. 

2. The Port Jefferson School District's Board of Education will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Edna Louise Spear Elementary for the final time in the 2012-13 academic year.

3. "Soup and Serenity" is a lunchtime gathering at Dipamkara Meditation Center that aims to extract clarity and energy from everyday stress, set for 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

4. On Thursday, Port Jefferson's village planning board will meet at 7 p.m.

5. Learn how to prevent and identify opioid drug overdose, and get a certificate as a trained overdose responder, at a training session on Friday at 6 p.m. at Hope House Ministries. Click here for more information.
