Volunteer Opportunities for Teens, Business Trade Show this Week in Port Jeff

Here's what's happening this week in and around Port Jefferson.

-Are you or your teen interested in volunteering but not sure where to start? Head to the third annual Volunteer Fair at Comeswogue Library. Representatives from many local organizations will be on site to discuss volunteer opportunities. Tuesday, 4 p.m.

-Come join Chef Richard Kanowsky in making fresh, homemade pizza from scratch. He will take you through the entire process from making the dough to putting on some of the many toppings available that night. Take home your fresh pizza in a pizza box, cook it in your oven at home and enjoy. Port Jefferson Library.

-The Port Jefferson Village Board of Trustees will meet Monday. It is open to the public but it is a business meeting only, starting at 6 p.m., downstairs in the conference room.  Public is welcome to attend, but there is no public input.

-The Town of Brookhaven Supervisor's Office in collaboration with the Town of Brookhaven Youth Bureau and the Boys & Girls Club of Suffolk County invites residents to participate in a Substance Abuse Prevention Committee/Coalition in the Three Village/Port Jefferson/Comsewogue area. Wednesday, 6 p.m.

-The Networking and Business Trade Show is for anyone who owns or is starting a business. Meet representatives from the New York State Small Business Development Center, Small Business Administration and The Town of Brookhaven. Thursday, 5:30 p.m.

-A special needs family planning workshop will be held Thursday, 7 p.m. Planning for the future is difficult especially when you have a loved one with special needs. This workshop is designed for families with children (regardless of age) with special needs and will help you make informed decisions as you plan for your child.
