Weekend Guide: Live Music, Comsewogue Carnival, Beer Tasting

Patch picks for weekend fun.

This weekend marks the unofficial start of summer. Town beaches and marinas will formally open for the season, and Memorial Day parades can be found in nearby towns. Here’s a rundown of some local events happening this weekend.

Live Music

  • Check out Rorie Kelly, with opening act James Segall, at Mt. Sinai Congregational Church in Mt. Sinai on Saturday at 8 p.m. Kelly has been compared to Fiona Apple, Liz Phair and Janis Joplin. Cover: $5.
  • If you enjoy a good cover band, try Port Jazz at 9 p.m. on Friday (Panic) and Saturday (Nobody’s Children), with a DJ between sets.
Family
  • Check out the Comsewogue for Students Foundation annual carnival at JFK Middle School in Port Jefferson Station starting Friday (6 p.m. start Friday; 1 p.m. start Saturday through Monday). Fireworks on Saturday after dusk.
  • Design a patriotic pinwheel at Port Jefferson’s Maritime Explorium on Friday at 1 p.m.

Nearby
  • The annual Three Village Memorial Day parade kicks off Monday at the Village Green in Setauket at 11 a.m. and runs down Main Street and east on Route 25A.
